The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reportedly extended the admission processing period on its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) to give candidates affected by issues surrounding the 2026 WAEC results more time to submit their NECO results.
The development was disclosed by the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) following its meeting with the Minister of Education on concerns surrounding the conduct and results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to NAPPS, the extension is intended to allow candidates who have gaps or issues in their WAEC results to use their NECO results where necessary.
NAPPS, however, clarified that the admission exercise which closed on 31st August 2026 was the 2025/2026 admission exercise, not the 2026/2027 session.
The meeting also addressed the ongoing WAEC remarking exercise. NAPPS stated that WAEC would conduct the remarking requested by schools free of charge, while concerns over the 2026 WASSCE results and examination malpractice measures are still being reviewed.
Candidates are advised to continue monitoring their JAMB CAPS profiles and ensure that their O’Level results are properly uploaded and available for admission processing.
