The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has announced improved performance and participation in the 2025 placement examination.
Figures show that 63,950 pupils sat for the exam this year, compared to 62,031 in 2024, representing a 3.09 per cent increase.
The ministry also reported a stronger performance outcome, with the overall pass rate climbing to 83.21 per cent in 2025, up from 73.98 per cent in 2024 and 66.99 per cent in 2019. Mathematics recorded a 72.86 per cent pass rate, English 74.61 per cent, while General Studies improved to 85.30 per cent.
Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, who released the results on behalf of the government, said the improvement builds on recent gains recorded in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination.
Quoting Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the commissioner said the results reaffirm the administration’s commitment to strengthening public education through continuous investment in teachers, learning resources, and infrastructure.
The ministry commended teachers, parents, school leaders, and learners for their efforts in sustaining what it described as steady progress in the state’s education sector.
