The Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) has announced the partial closure of the Post Office Roundabout under the Flyover, starting Thursday, August 7, 2025, to enable major asphalt works. In a statement released on Wednesday by the KWARTMA’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Olawuyi Gani Olalekan, the closure is part of the ongoing extension of asphalt laying from Challenge Junction to the Post Office Roundabout and Emir’s Road.
The project, which is part of the state government’s larger road rehabilitation and construction effort, aims to enhance road quality and ease of movement within the Ilorin metropolis. To minimize disruption, KWARTMA has provided alternative routes for motorists. Drivers coming from Ajase-Ipo Road heading towards Muritala Muhammed Road are advised to use the flyover through Maraba-Zango axis.
Similarly, those heading to Oja-Oba from Ajase-Ipo Road are to take Unity Road, connect through Taiwo-Isale, and continue via Emir’s Road. For motorists from Emir’s Road heading to the CBN-Lajorin axis, a diversion through Obbo Road and Unity Road is recommended.
KWARTMA further advised road users heading to Ahmadu Bello House to use Ahmadu Bello Way, noting that the Ahmadu Bello Junction will reopen for vehicular movement starting Wednesday. The Authority has deployed traffic officers to assist road users and ensure smooth flow throughout the construction period.
KWARTMA urged full cooperation from the public, stating: “We regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience as we work to improve Kwara’s road network for the benefit of all.”
