The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a medical doctor accused of transporting medical supplies from Sokoto State to suspected kidnapping gangs operating in parts of Kwara.
This was disclosed in a statement posted on the Kwara State Government’s official Facebook page on Friday.
According to reports, the suspect was intercepted in Jebba, within the Moro Local Government Area, following intelligence that linked him to a drug-delivery network servicing the criminal groups.
The arrest is said to be part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the supply chains aiding armed gangs across the region.
Security sources noted that the kidnappers have recently become more desperate in seeking medical attention, particularly for treating gunshot wounds sustained during gunfights with security operatives.
This increased demand for medical supplies reportedly drew the attention of security agencies monitoring illicit movements.
A security official warned that health facilities located near forested areas may face heightened risks, as criminal elements could target them in search of urgent medical care.
