The Kwara State branch of the Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN) has commenced a three-day warning strike following what it described as the state government’s failure to respond to its 14-day ultimatum and long-standing demands.
In a statement signed by the Association’s Chairperson, Mrs. Medinat Adebisi, and Secretary, Ms. Tolulope Oniyide, the group said the decision to down tools followed an emergency meeting held on Friday, October 24, 2025.
Mrs. Adebisi stated that the Association had issued a 14-day strike notice to the Kwara State Government, which lapsed on the 24th of October, without any acknowledgment or effort by government officials to address their grievances.
“Following the expiration of the ultimatum, and due to the government’s inaction, members of our Association have resolved to embark on a three-day warning strike commencing today, October 27, 2025,” the statement read in part.
She explained that the Association’s demands were clearly outlined in the earlier communication sent to the state government but regretted that there had been no dialogue or intervention from the authorities.
“We are disappointed that despite our patience and formal notice, the government has not deemed it necessary to engage with us. This level of neglect is unacceptable,” Mrs. Adebisi lamented.
The strike, which officially began on Monday, is expected to affect legal operations across ministries, departments, and agencies in the state, including the Ministry of Justice.
The Association, however, assured that the current action is a warning strike intended to draw the attention of the government to their plight, warning that a full-scale industrial action may follow if their concerns remain unaddressed.
As of the time of this report, the Kwara State Government is yet to issue any official response to the strike action.
