The National Assembly has informed suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) that she cannot resume her legislative duties despite completing her six-month suspension.
In a letter dated September 4, 2025, and signed by the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, the Parliament said her suspension remains in effect as the case is still pending before the Court of Appeal.
“The matter remains subjudice, and until the judicial process is concluded and the Senate formally reviews the suspension in the light of the court’s pronouncement, no administrative action can be taken by this office to facilitate your resumption,” the letter read.
Dr. Danzaria assured that Akpoti-Uduaghan would be duly notified of the Senate’s decision once the case is resolved.
The senator was suspended on March 6, 2025, following a heated dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seat arrangements during plenary.
Although the Federal High Court in Abuja upheld the Senate’s decision, Akpoti-Uduaghan has since approached the Court of Appeal to challenge the ruling.
The NASS bureaucracy said her suspension would only be reviewed after the appellate court delivers its final judgment.
