Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Katsina, has expelled 57 students for their involvement in various forms of examination malpractice, reinforcing the institution’s zero-tolerance stance on academic dishonesty.
The decision was approved during the university’s 125th Senate meeting, following recommendations from the Central Examination Misconduct Committee. This was disclosed in a statement released on Saturday by Hajiya Fatima Sanda, Head of Information and Protocol.In addition to the expulsions, five other students were suspended for two semesters for their roles in exam-related infractions, with their affected examination papers cancelled.
Two more students received formal written warnings, which will remain permanently on their academic records.The university management emphasized that the disciplinary actions are aimed at upholding academic integrity and deterring future misconduct.“UMYU is committed to maintaining the sanctity of its academic environment,” the statement read.
“Any act that threatens the credibility of our examination process will be met with strict consequences.”Students were also reminded to comply fully with academic regulations, as the university vowed to continue enforcing measures that protect the value of its certificates.
