The Kwara State Government has declared Thursday, June 26, 2025, a public holiday to mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1447 AH. Announcing the holiday in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq extended his warm congratulations to the people of the state, especially the Muslim community, as they commemorate the Hijrah, the historic migration of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from Mecca to Medina.
In his message, the governor urged Muslims to reflect on the lessons of Hijrah, describing it as a symbol of personal and communal sacrifice for righteous causes.
He emphasized abandoning actions that undermine peace, harmony, and social justice.Governor AbdulRazaq also called on citizens to uphold the values of tolerance, unity, and faith during the new Islamic year. He encouraged the muslim faithfuls to use the occasion to foster goodwill and coexistence in Kwara and across the country.
He concluded by praying that the Hijrah brings increased security, divine blessings, and renewed faith to all families in Kwara State and Nigeria as a whole.
